Amy Fisher is the Long Island, New York girl convicted in 1992 of the shooting of her lover’s wife, Mary Jo Buttafuoco.
Amy Elizabeth Fisher was a high school student when she started an affair with Joey Buttafuoco, after meeting him when she took her car to his auto shop for repairs. Not long after meeting at his auto shop, Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco started having sex.
Joey helped set Amy up with work as a prostitute at an escort agency when she needed money and the sexual affair between Amy and Joey continued. Amy later claimed to have lied about working as a prostitute.
Amy Fisher asked Joey to leave Mary Jo Buttafuoco but he refused and the drama unfolded.
On 19th May 1992, Amy Fisher was driven to Mary Jo and Joey Buttafuoco’s Long Island, New York home by an accomplice and shot Mary Jo Buttafuoco in the head as she answered the front door.
Mary Jo survived the shooting and was able to give the attacker’s details to the police. Amy’s mistake was wearing an auto shop t-shirt that Joey had given her and he identified her to police.
This story recieved huge media coverage across both America and the rest of the world, and Amy Fisher, Joey Buttafuoco and Mary Jo Buttafuoco became household names.
Amy Fisher had a number of charges filed against her and pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. She was eventually sentenced to 5-15 years in prison.
Fisher was released after serving only seven years after having her sentence reduced.
Jumping forward to 2003 Amy Fisher married Louis Bellera and had 2 children. By middle of 2007 it was reported by the media that Amy had separated from Louis and Joey had also parted ways with his girlfriend, and that Amy and Joey were meeting up again on a date.
In October 2007 the New York post published a story alleging that Louis Bellera had sold the now much hyped sex tape of the couple in action to a porn company in Los Angeles.
The porn company made a press release stating that they would be releasing the sex tape, “Amy Fisher: Caught on Tape” of Amy Fisher and Lou Bellera on November 14th on the web site.
Other press and media reports quickly followed that Amy Fisher is suing RLD and it’s owner for copyright infringement and damages.
